Leaders’ role in Performance Management
Leaders’ role in Performance Management
Any organization
in the world cannot practice the performance management without a proper
leadership because someone must need to give leadership, guidance, motivation,
and different coordination to implement the performance management practices
effective manner. Through the performance management, organizations involve to
leader the employees towards the achievements, continues growth opportunities,
provide the rewards and recognition for the achievers, segregate the employees
for different categories to develop new leaders, motivate the poor performers
under the identification of the prevailing barriers towards the achievements
and other, all these factors are required to manage by a leader with various
types of leadership traits (Megan, 2023)
Leadership needs to focus on the team
Leaders main focus should be given towards the employees because the leaders responsibility is guiding the employees towards the achievements and requires evaluating all the prevailing and possible barriers towards the achievements and then need to take immediate actions or strategies to mitigate those to create a hassle free pathways for the achievements. When give the focus on the team, leaders must need to come-up with different strategies to motivate, coach, recognize and many other factors to lead the team towards the continues success (Sreyashi, 2022)
The team needs the leadership to create a performance
strategy
Any achievement cannot gain without the proper plans and the plans are the strategies to drive the team towards the achievements and the achievement shows the performance of the employees and the organization. Employees must need to travel through a route for the achievement of the end goals and objectives and within this road map employees happen to face for different challenges and when these challenges are winning that impact towards the achievement of the end goals and objectives and within this route leaders involvement is highly important to lead the team towards the achievements because most of the leaders give their directions at the starting point but they do not stay with the team until the last stage and these types of incidents impact negatively towards the performance management and this shows proper leaders must need to stay with the team implementing different strategies to mitigate the ongoing barriers within the entire road map to bring the employees towards the achievement of set goals and objectives
Leaders track and analyze performance data
Most of the poor leaders only evaluate the final achievement numbers and then they become satisfy or aggressive, this is not a good practice for the effective performance management strategies because the leaders must need to always track and analyze the performance data daily, weekly and monthly to determine the future and clearly identify whether they can achieve or not the end goals and objectives. When analyzing the performance data frequently, leaders can clearly identify the performance of each employees and then having the opportunities to identify the performance issues and mitigate the challenges under the different operational strategies (Ameen, 2021)
Rewards and career development
This is one of the required and important factor under the performance management because without the motivational factors organizations cannot gain the continues performance and that is the main requirement of the rewards and career development of the employees. Leaders must need to set some rewards towards the achievement of the employees and this will lead to encourage the employees towards the achievements and the rewards will impact positively to create an internal competition as well. These rewards systems must need to utilize for the career developments as well because the promotions must need to be given based on the performance of the employees and this will lead to treat the employees without any personal biased or relationships.
In conclusion,
leadership in performance management involves supportive and fostered work
environment. And most emphasized fact is aligning individual or team goals with
set corporate level vision. A leader literally has the overall responsibility
in driving the team towards common goal with a holistic view.

As per research report by Trinet and Wakefield (2015) 22% preferred to call in sick. Another 35% have complained to their peers, 15% have cursed and 15% have cried on their performance review, this shows the lack of communication between leaders and employees, performance review should create an opportunity for employees to perform well and appreciate their performance with compensation and rewards, better leadership strategies are required to have a good performance management practices in an organization
