 Issues with Performance Management process

Organizations make various types of issues under the performance management and some of these issues are major challenges to reach towards the organizational achievements and this shows organizations always must need to monitor and evaluate the performance management systems to minimize all he possible adverse effects. Performance management directly impact towards the organizational profitability, productivity, and engagement and this shows the importance of the performance management and based on these organizations must need to give their attention towards the below areas (Staffcircle, 2022)


Goal setting

Organizations make some of the major issues under the goal setting and the goal setting is the highest important factor to reach for the achievements and to identify the organization as performing. Some organizations set the over goals and these goals are not achievable when evaluating the market situation and the potential in the industries, these types of situations are challenging factors towards the employees because the employees cannot achieve the unpractical goals and objectives, based on this, employees become demotivated and some of them involve leaving from their jobs as well. This shows organizations always set the goals according to the market potential and requires minimizing all the possible unpractical things under the goal setting (Rivera, 2021)


Strategic focus

Some organizations always use very easy and convenient strategies to drive the organizations towards the achievements and this system is not always positive to reach towards the performances because the market condition is highly competitive and this shows organizations always need focus in strategically and requires to change the strategies according to the prevailing competition and the different market situations (Kineo, 2022)

 

Evaluation and feedbacks

Some leaders stay until the end of finance year for the evaluation of the achievements and performances, and this is a challenging factor to reach towards the achievements of the organizations, this shows organizations need to do the evaluations weekly and monthly to identify all the prevailing issues barriers to reach towards the achievements and then need to get the feedbacks of the employees to take the required precautions to strengthen the performance management procedures well (Panda, 2022)

 

Leadership support

Some leaders do not give their support and guidance for the employees until the end of the road map because most of the time these types of leaders involve to give their leadership and required guidance within the start points of the journey and these types of situations impact negatively towards the performance management because the leadership should be a continues guidance for employees to reach towards the set goals and objectives

 

Coaching and training

This is one of the big issues make by the leaders because some leaders do not involve to train and employees to improve their skills in order to lead the employees towards the achievements because their requirement is to see the achievements at the end of the financial years. These types of situations are not positive towards the performance management because the employees are not always ready towards the given strategies because some of the poor knowledgeable and unskillful factors exist within the employees and this shows leaders must need to identify all the prevailing unskilled factors of the employees in order to train them with required training sessions to change the employees towards the new things (Cokins, 2023)

 

Rewards and recognition

Some of the performance management systems are not attached with the rewards and recognitions and this is a major issue to motivate the employees towards the achievements. This shows leaders need to set different KPIs with the rewards and recognitions to keep the employees’ motivation continuously.

 

Resources

To measure the set targets of employees a system and separate monitoring staff is required. The issue will be bigger if the workforce is large. In certain cases, no technology is used and helps manual gathering of data which may lead to wrong information. And absence of trained HR personnel could also be a reason. Replacing manual work and introducing latest software will ensure the sustainability of proper data.

  1. Further adding to this I would like to mention one more about Lack of skill or knowledge . If an employee doesn’t have the necessary skills or knowledge to perform their job duties, they may struggle to complete tasks efficiently and accurately. Mistakes, delays can be happen. Lack of skill and knowledge can also lead to frustration and low job satisfaction for the employee. To address this issue, it’s important for organizations to provide training and development opportunities for their employees.

  2. Support from the leadership is important as you rightly captured here. Employees need guidance a nd pathway set for them to progress. While the company will drive overall objectives and goals, it's upto the leader to create progression within his/her team. Guidance and transparency is key.
